elopements

Imagine waking up to the quiet calm of your wedding day, just the two of you, with nothing to rush. You sip your coffee together, share a quiet moment, maybe even dance in the kitchen in your pajamas, or slip into your wedding clothes side by side. There’s no pressure, no crowd—just the magic of being with your favorite person, in your favorite place. Whether you’re exchanging vows in your backyard, at city hall, a cozy family cabin, or on the cliffs of the North Shore, eloping gives you the freedom to craft a day that feels 100% you. It’s the moments between the big steps—the little glances, the laughter, the joy of being fully present—that make it all so unforgettable. As your Minnesota elopement photographer I want to help make sure your elopement is more than just a day, but an experience that’s as intimate, real, and beautiful as the love you share.

photographing your minnesota elopement

the experience

When you book me to photograph your Minnesota elopement, it’s like having a friend with a camera who’s there to capture your love story—minus the awkwardness. Seriously, I want you to feel so comfortable that you forget I’m even there (until you look at your gorgeous photos, of course!). Eloping in Minnesota (and beyond) is all about intimacy, and I get that it’s just you, your partner, and maybe a handful of people—so you want someone who not only knows how to snap the best photos but who you actually enjoy hanging out with. I’ll let the day unfold naturally, but if you need help planning, a little guidance, or just someone to keep things chill, I’m your person. I shoot both film and digital, giving you a blend of timeless and modern shots, and I’ll put together a custom package that’s 100% you. So let’s focus on what matters—your love, your day, and your joy—and I’ll make sure it’s all beautifully captured.

When I first met Emily, she was the second photographer for my sister’s wedding. I immediately loved her energy and demeanor. Few years later, once my husband and I got engaged, deciding who we wanted as a photographer was easy! I’m so happy we worked with Emily on our big day.

When working with Emily it doesn’t feel like a transactional exchange, it truly feels like a friendship. Communication was a breeze and Emily is always there as a resource for any questions you might have. Emily makes sure you feel comfortable while taking pictures and makes the whole process memorable.

do we need a permit to elope in minnesota?

Possibly!! Once we a location(s) we will figure out everything we need to do to make it legal. There are also plenty of spaces where no permit is required.

You are out of budget - Should we still reach out??

Yes! If you resonate with my Minnesota elopement photography work, the vibes I bring to the table and are planning something sweet and genuine, I would love more info and to see if we can put together something custom for you.

When is the best time of year to elope in Minnesota?

Short answer - year round! Long answer - depends on your venue/location. Minnesota has so many great indoor and outdoor options. At the end of the day, picking a meaningful place means more than what time of year you do it.

How involved are you in the planning process?

As much as you want me to be! Some couples come to me with venues/vibes/plans in mind and others just know they want to get married and haven't gone any further than that, we then make plans together!

What if it rains or there is bad weather on our elopement day?

I love weather on a wedding day. Sun, rain, snow, all of it. That said, we will keep our eyes on the forcast and adjust plans accordingly! Especially if planning on eloping in Minnesota at an outdoor location. For the most part though, we will embrace it all!

How far in advance should we book our elopement photographer?

If you are planning on a weekend, I would book asap as those fill up really quick! I think weekday elopements are the bessstt though and those can usually be booked closer to your desired date.
